A to collaboration with contemporary Aboriginal artist Lauren Freestone, a proud Wiradjuri woman based on Gumbaynggirr Country, NSW. Inspired by both her saltwater upbringing and her family’s creative legacy, Lauren’s work reflects her deep connection to Country through earthy tones and textured forms.
Inspired by the magic of childhood- gathering treasures along the shore, collecting newly flowered and fallen banksia cones from the sand, searching for shells, digging for pippis, scouring rockpools, swimming in the river & ocean.
The oval shapes are coolamons- a symbol of new life with the scattered middens representing those that came before us.
